Clinician Biography

Rita Nicholson-Weaver is a graduate of Nyack Christian College in 2004, where she completed her Bachelors degree in Social Work. While living on campus, a non- traditional student at the age of 44, Rita was challenged to oversee a dormitory of 200 adolescent girls. Here is where her passion to one day provide professional therapy services to girls developed. Rita continued her studies at Fordham University where she received her Masters Degree in social work, with a clinical focus, and a specialization in Addiction in 2010.

She has worked with multiple populations from chronic homelessness, women recovering from addiction, women incarcerated, and in hospice. Rita believes in providing unconditional positive regard when engaging with clients, while providing client centered therapy. She believes every human being has the ability to change their story, while utilizing CBT and Narrative therapies, change is possible. Rita focuses on the entire person, embracing the biopsychosocial-spiritual concept. She welcomes you to challenge yourself into your healing journey while changing the narrative. Rita is currently working on her PhD in Christian Counseling with a specialization in Addiction.
